Kauffman Fusions

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Kauffman Fusions detail

I just happened to watch Susan cutting out the pieces for this quilt one morning. The colors are so vibrant and the system she used to cut it out was fun to see. The fabrics are Robert Kaufman’s Fusions.

daisies

Susan is having a very busy fall season and she’s looking forward to the holidays. This hasn’t left her much time to sit down at the computer to blog so I thought I’d sneak in from time to time and give her a hand. We want to keep you all posted on all the exciting things going on at Mountain Stitches.

fat quarters

There are lots of fat quarters just waiting to be picked up at the fat quarter sale and turned into your wonderful creations.

Here’s a quilt on the long arm that one of Susan’s daughters pieced from Americana fabrics in a Turning Twenty pattern. The long arm will soon be repositioned in the quilting room so that some of you can come “Sit and Sew” here at the shop. Susan will be offering “Sit and Sew” time once a week as well as some classes. If there are any classes in particular that you would like to see offered send Susan an email and let her know. She’ll be announcing dates and times in January.

I have a few pictures of Susan’s quilts to share with you later this week so check back in.

My How Time Flies

The Flat IornFor some strange reason this blog gets shoved to the bottom of my list of things to do. I am having a rare “day off” So my first order of business is to get caught up on this blog.

Don’t forget the upcoming FAT QUARTER SALE. Our annual Thanksgiving sale is November 23,24,25,27,28, and29th. We won’t be cutting any Fat Quarters or breaking any bundles during the sale.

We have had a busy year in the shop. It has been so nice having the long arm to finish samples for the shop. I have found though that there is no way I can quilt for other quilters and keep up in the shop. The ideal thing would be to find someone to use my machine and quilt for others. Oh well, for now I need to just keep on quilting for the shop and not worry about the machine sitting for a day or two.

A very helpful tool I have found is Triangulations. I think it is the greatest thing since the rotary cutter. I have always admired half square triangles but had stuck to squares because I felt intimidated by HSTs. Well after finding Triangulations I have made a few quilts using them.

I have Moda’s CIVIL WAR HOMEFRONT and OLD PRIMROSE INN due to come in this month. JUNGLE SAFARI by P&B Textiles is also coming. I always love it when new fabric arrives.
