Stepping Stones

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Stepping Stones is such an easy quilt to put together. Susan chose 16 fat quarters of of Civil War reproduction fabric and cut 9 inch squares. The squares are set with white sashing and cornerstones. The end result is a 90″X90″ quilt.

Garden Party by Blackbird Designs (Moda) is in the shop now. Click here to see photos.

Just a reminder that we will be having a Fat Quarter sale during the Quilt Show, March 8 -13. Fat Quarters will be $1.50. We won’t be cutting new Fat Quarters or breaking bundles during the sale.

We are all so lucky here at Mountain Stitches to meet visitors from all over the country and world. I know there are some of these friends who are still experiencing wonderful winter snow. Spring is just around the corner here in Tennessee but here’s a photo of Susan’s latest Snowball quilt made from some Civil War reproduction fabrics.

This is a rare and fun opportunity to interact with works of art from a premier collection that has been shown in major art museums throughout the United States, including the Knoxville Museum of Art, and the subject of three books. ReVision is an invitation that comes with a challenge – a challenge to begin looking at everyday objects with “new eyes” and may also challenge your ideas of quilt design, color, construction and your concept of art.

Purses

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Are we all ready for a little spring yet? Snow and bitter cold weather might be upon us now but a new spring purse is on my mind. These two purses are made with a pattern called Bow Tucks. Wouldn’t it be fun to work with some bright fabric and whip one of these up!
