Happy Mothers Day http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/2012/05/09/happy-mothers-day-3/ http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/2012/05/09/happy-mothers-day-3/#comments Wed, 09 May 2012 09:45:50 +0000 Administrator http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/?p=916 I Just want to take a minute to wish everyone a Happy Mothers day. This is a quilt I just finished quilting. I don’t quilt many quilts for customers, but this one was special. Pepper Waller appliqued and pieced this by hand and it was her last quilt. Pepper went to be with the Lord this spring. She was a very special lady and she has some very special daughters. Aren’t good memories wonderful, we can pull them out any time and enjoy them!!! Let’s enjoy this weekend in memory of our mothers. If your still have your mother give her lots of HUGS every day.

Seems that spring has come and gone. Now it is cold again. Thank goodness quilting is not an outdoor sport. I am working on a Take “5″ quilt now. I’m down to the borders. I’ll get some pictures later. We have been busy with fat quarters and working on things for the shop hop in June. I’m trying hard to be organized this year, with Daniel and Ashley’s wedding and shop-hop the same week. Yall have a good week. I’ll try hard to get some quilting pictures posted.

Quilting http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/2012/03/02/quilting-12/ http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/2012/03/02/quilting-12/#comments Fri, 02 Mar 2012 01:37:10 +0000 Administrator http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/?p=896 This is a quilt that I started last summer or maybe it was in the spring. Anyway this is one of those quilts that you start and are so excited about. Then when you get into the piecing of it you realize oops! This is going to take forever. So I set it aside and got it out and finished it this winter. The fabric is Shabby Chic, very soft and sweet. I would tell you how many 1 inch cornerstones it has but I threw the pattern away so I wouldn’t be tempted to do this again.

Sock Monkeys http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/2012/02/01/sock-monkeys/ http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/2012/02/01/sock-monkeys/#comments Wed, 01 Feb 2012 10:16:34 +0000 Administrator http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/?p=881 I’ve been spending my time at home making Sock Monkeys. Some have asked me to put their pictures up. So here they are. They are going to live in Kansas with Jenna Grace. I’m glad they are finished. Oh! Now I have to make Sophie some too, but that can wait. Her birthday isn’t until October. I had visions of getting these made for Christmas. I can always think it up faster than making it. Whatever IT is. Yall have a good day, I’m going to work on a quilt.

Still Quilting http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/2012/01/28/still-quilting-2/ http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/2012/01/28/still-quilting-2/#comments Sat, 28 Jan 2012 12:05:56 +0000 Administrator http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/?p=873 I finally finished this little red quilt. I just love it! The back of the quilt is pieced with my left over blocks. Oh Wow! I really like this for backings. Iwent through the shop and gathered up all of the red and whites and put them on the red bench. We are loving this winter. Really mild after last years winter.

This is the easy pattern I used in the previous post. I added a border to my quilt.

Have a good weekend.

QUILTING http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/2012/01/22/quilting-11/ http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/2012/01/22/quilting-11/#comments Sun, 22 Jan 2012 15:21:02 +0000 Administrator http://mountainstitchesbysusan.com/blog/?p=868

This is one of the easiest quilts I've ever done. I used 30's fabric and a dot from Moda for the centers and border. For the binding I used scraps form the 30's fabric.I think I'll make another one using some of this new civil war fabric. I've been so busy trying to be ready for this spring that I forgot a Dr. appointment this week but remembered an appointment to get my hair cut. I guess I need to get a little more organized!
New fabric is rooling in I think we have about 125 new fabrics since the first of the year, and more to come. OH!! Where am I going to put all this fabric? So come on by and check them out. We will have lots of specials during Mountain Quilt Fest in March.
Keep Quilting
